Photo editing should be free, private, and instant.
EditPhotosForFree was born out of frustration with the state of online photo editors. Most are slow, require signups, watermark your exports, and — worst of all — upload your personal photos to servers you have no control over.
We set out to build something better: a complete photo editing suite that runs entirely in your browser, never uploads a single byte, costs nothing, and asks for nothing in return. No accounts. No watermarks. No usage limits. No "premium tier" upsells.
Our principles
Privacy by default
Your photos never leave your device. All processing happens in your browser using WebAssembly and Canvas. We have no servers receiving your images — verified by network inspection.
Free forever
Every tool, every feature, every export — completely free. We sustain the project through unobtrusive display ads. No premium tier, no paywalled features, no hidden costs.
Speed first
Built on Nuxt 4 for instant page loads with SSR + prerendering. Tools run on WebAssembly for native-speed image processing. Pages ship with minimal render-blocking JavaScript.
Open and accessible
Works on any modern device — desktop, tablet, mobile. No installs. No plugins. No specific OS required. If your browser runs, our tools run.
Our story
EditPhotosForFree started in 2023 when our founder, a freelance product photographer, needed a quick way to remove backgrounds from product shots while traveling. Every online tool he tried either required a signup, watermarked the output, or — most alarmingly — uploaded his clients' unreleased product photos to unknown servers.
He discovered that modern browsers, with WebAssembly and Canvas, have more than enough power to handle professional photo editing entirely client-side. The "we need to upload your photo to process it" model was a relic of the 2010s — kept alive because it let companies harvest data and lock users into subscriptions.
The first tool, our background remover, launched in early 2024. Within six months it had been used by over 500,000 people. We've since expanded to 10 tools, all following the same principle: free, private, browser-based, no signup.
We're a small, remote team of five. We have no investors, no VCs, and no plans to ever charge for the core product. If we ever change that, we'll tell you a year in advance.
